Hi Everyone,

We had a interesting evening, a few of us were kind of sick with a sinus infection, so we were a little short handed. Jonathan and Josh joined us this month which was a blessing to us. I did forget to bring the bowls and cups for 2100 Lakeside. We served hot chile and cornbread, gave out 100 hygiene packs, and mouth hygiene packs donated by Dr. Aydin Cabi in Aurora Ohio. We also gave out over 80 pairs of socks. Thanks to all who have donated items. Last month in January we had to cancel due to the weather. Please keep this ministry in your prayer.

Hi Everyone,

This past Friday it was a bit cold, we handed out all the clothes and gloves they went very fast. In East Cleveland we handed out Christmas bags for the kids and gave out socks and hygiene packs. At 2100 Lakeside, we fed the men chick fli a sandwiches, and chile, rolls and homemade Christmas cookies. Gary had a chance to pray with 3-men also. We had Nicole join us for her first time. We missed Ivan, Joan, Mike, Tammy and Christine. Thanks to all that helped out with donations through out the year. It has made a difference. Please keep this ministry in your prayers as God has open doors in the Akron Area.

Hi Everyone,

Finally I'm able to post again here on the blog, Aug we didn't take any pictures. In Sept and Oct

I lost them all on the s/d card which included spirit night on Sept 13th.

So, now its November, this past Friday we served a complete Thanksgiving dinner to the men at the 2100 Lakeside Shelter. We served almost 150 dinners. We prepared, 5 fresh turkeys, homemade stuffing, mashed potatoes, apple sauce, dinner rolls, homemade cupcakes. This was a task that all involved should be proud. Akron Salvation Army allowed us to use their Canteen to serve this meal. Kings Kitchen donated 200 dollars so we could prepare and serve this to the men. The men were very thankful, we also gave out 100 hygiene packs, 100 pairs of socks, bananas, granola bars and the famous chick fil a sandwiches. We thank the Lord for all who helped out and made this a successful dinner. At East Cleveland, we handed out chick fil a sandwiches along with oreo cookies. We had 7 boxes of clothes that had many jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies, gloves, hats etc. We took home 3 boxes that are half full. Thanks to all who donated clothing. Please keep this in your prayers, as winter is yet to appear and will soon.
Their is still a big need for gloves, hats and socks.

Hi Everyone,

We had a good night tonight, we had HOT DOGS again and they went quick. We served 130 Hot Dogs in East Cleveland and 2100 Lakeside. We also handed out 100 Chick Fli A sandwiches. The Lord gave us divine appointments tonight also. We prayed with a number of people. We also celebrated Emmanuel's Birthday. We had over 30 pairs of socks, 200 snacks, and Joyce had 20 bars of Irish Spring soap she handed out at 2100. We gave out over 30 bibles and 75 hygiene packs. In East Cleveland we had a bag of shoes and half given away, we had 3 bags of clothes and they also went. There is still a need and we need to start stock piling up for the colder months that are coming up. WE NEED SOCKS, MENS BOOTS (LARGE SIZES) AND JACKETS.

Hi everyone,

We had a slow night last night, not that many children in East Cleveland as we thought there would be. At 2100 Lakeside there was not as many men as in the past. We gave out 100 Chick fli A Sandwiches, approx 115 hand made sandwiches and snacks, we gave out over 25 bibles. Mike prayed with at least two men at the men's shelter. Thanks to all who made the snacks and prepared the sandwiches. Our next date out is July 15th. Keep this ministry in your prayers.

We need more socks and clothes to give out in East Cleveland. The need is great.

Hi everyone,
We had a very good night. We prepared 119 hot dogs and served most of them in East Cleveland.
We gave out 75 hygiene packs and almost 200 snacks. I have no pictures this month since I lost my memory card with the pictures. We gave out bibles, clothes, we had no socks this month.

Hi everyone,

Sorry it so long to post this. Friday the 15th we had a good turn out of people. East Cleveland we had the blessing to meet two young kids who were so humbe and kind. They touched all of our hearts tonight. I decided just to post their pictures this week so we all can pray for them.

The young man wanted to know if we could get him a baseball mitt.

At 2100 we just had enough food. The Lord provided at least 4 divine appointments which was an answer to prayer.

Hi Everyone,

It again took a week to post, sorry about that. Well, we had a good night, since they changed the time we had daylight and that was nice. It was not that cold as it was last month. In East Cleveland the Lord brought people out for food and prayer. As I pulled up a guy stopped me (I was in the back of my car) and asked if I had a jacket? I pulled out a all most brand new well kept Cleveland Indians jacket and gave it to him. He was very thankful. It is like God's timing on that, Glory to God... We fed much tonight and gave out some clothes, hats, gloves etc.

The young kids that were there seen I was taking pictures and wanted to take some with my camera, as you see above all the pictures of the young kids posing are the one's they took. They had a good time. At 2100 Lakeside, almost 400 men in the shelter, we gave out 100 chicken sandwiches, 160 pre-made sandwiches, hot beef stew, 200 plus snacks, 30 plus pairs of socks.

We want to thank all who has donated items this month, and thank those who made sandwiches, put together snacks and everyone's prayer.

We go out next month on April 15th Please keep the ministry in your prayers.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry it took so long to post this, busy week. We did go out on the 18th and we gave out bag's of clothes in East Cleveland donated by Joyce. Those clothes went quick. Ivan brought jackets for the young ones and some adults. Those jackets really supplied a need. It was a very windy evening not too cold and no snow in Cleveland. We seen GREEN GRASS. We handed out over 20 hygiene packs in East Cleveland along with at lesat 50 sandwiches and snacks and some left over toys from Christmas. Mike, Tom and Gary had a chance to pray with a few young children, a young mother Louise. At 2100 Lakeside, the men were pretty well fed that night by other Churches. We still gave out 100 Chic-Fli-A sandwiches and 200 pre-made Sandwiches. Over 200 snacks, 60 pairs of socks, 75 hygiene packs, 20 hats, some gloves and long underwear & a few bibles. The week prior Shelly arranged for over 1000 pillows to be donated to the 2100 Lakeside Shelter. We were thanked again Friday and were told those pillows worked out very well. Special thanks to all who donated snacks and sandwiches this week. Sarah and Mike, Tammy (we missed you) and the Bible Babes for preparing pre made sandwiches. (they all pitched in 7 dollars to make all those sandwiches) Thanks ladies.

We all go out again on March 18th, keep this ministry in our prayers. We are always in need of hygiene items, socks, gloves, etc.

Hi Everyone,

Burrrrrrrrrrr was it a cold one tonight!! Plus it was snowing..... Yes it was cold but, in East Cleveland many showed up for a hot bowl of noodles. We served approx. 40 people including some children (who needed gloves). We served over 300 men at the 2100 men's shelter.

Emmanuel and Albert also joined us tonight. Dorie made 2 boxes of cupcakes and they went fast.

In all we gave out 255 bags of cookies, 40 bags of rice krispies, 48 granola bars, 85 wrapped crackers. 100 Chic-Fli-A sandwiches, 50 salami cheese, 25 ham and cheese, and 85 bologna and cheese. 100 hygiene packs, 80 bibles, 60 pr's of socks, 15 hats, 12 prs. of gloves and misc clothes. it appears due to the cold that all who came out for food got some. We did run out of the typical things like

hygiene packs, socks, hats, gloves and bibles. Special thanks again to Mike and Sarah, John/Linda for all they do behind the scenes to keep the supply line intact. Please keep this ministry in your prayers.

Hi Everyone,

First of all thanks to all who ventured out on Friday night. It was a cold one! We actually arrived downtown early ya ya ya!! East Cleveland, we gave 11 blankets to numerous children who had no heat or lack of it. Children just kept coming up to us when we were leaving asking if we had any blankets. These children had possibily no heat at home or lack of it. To see the humility in their hearts was inspiring to me. God loves these children so much. You see God had a plan, we received a donation that day of 10 blankets, yes it is a fact...God does provide to all.....

Dorie put together 20 Christmas bags for the children and they scooped them up quick. We gave out socks, jackets, clothes and tons of snacks. We met our new driver Reggie great guy. Albert joined us along with Emmanual. At one point Reggie, Albert and Amanda were singing Christmas carols it was so neat I wish I recorded it to post here. Albert also sang one of his new songs he just wrote.. Tom and Amanda joined us for the first time tonight they did a fantastic job we were so blessed to have them with us. 2100 Lakeside, as before we gave out 200 Chick fli a sandwiches, approx 100 ham sandwiches (thanks to Sarah & Linda) tons of snacks, socks, gloves and hats. We had hot choc. and left over hot stew from East Cleveland. All most forgot, we gave out 25 bibles (thanks Pastor). Mike of course prayed with numerous people.

Friday was our 12 time out this year, thank you to all who have helped & donated items and their time. We all know that the main provider is God, without Him nothing is possibly.

We are so blessed in our lives, thank you for the provisions you provided for us. We lift up Albert & Emmanual and ask special blessing for them. Hi Everyone

Well, no real pictures this month, to dark to take. Friday night a little confusing at first, but God had a plan. The Canteen truck left at 5:15pm half hour before we arrived. They hired a new driver who had no idea about us and our time schedule. We made the best of it and ventured to the women's shelter at 17th/Payne. Upon arrival we found out that it was no longer a women's shelter. It had moved to 22nd/Payne a brand new renovated shelter. We were able to visit inside and gave away approx. 75 chic fli a sandwiches and over 50 hygiene packs. The women have a very nice shelter that is very structured with rules. We are only allowed to visit between the hours of 5:30--6:30pm only. Outside we handed out all the women's clothes, hats, gloves and goodies. After that we went to 2100 Lakeside, there we handed out shoes, gloves, all the hats, jackets, hygiene, hot drinks, and 150 chic fli sandwiches, 44 bologna sandwiches, many snack goodies. We did again run out of everything, we were told that 375 men were in the shelter Friday night. We want to thank all for donating items such as clothes, food etc. Special thanks to Linda for making sandwiches. Albert Jones and Emmanuel Mustin joined us also.

Albert and Emmanuel, we are so blessed to have you part of our family.

Its been a busy month and have not had a chance to update blog since then.

We handed out over 200 sandwiches, over 50 pairs of socks & 100 hygiene packs. At the women's shelter we had 8 bags of women's clothes, we took nothing home all clothes gone. Our next time out in Nov 19th 2010. Thanks Dale & Joyce and Pastor Joe and Janice for joining us.

Hi Everyone,
Sorry this post is a week late, the weekend of the 17th was a busy one along with the week that followed.

Well on Friday we gave out 200 Chic-Fli-A sandwiches at 2100 Lakeside, over 80 personal hygiene packs. We also gave out two bags of clothes, 30 plus pairs of socks. God gave us 4 people to pray for, Dwayne, Paul at 2100 lakeside (Paul gave his life to the Lord Praise God!!) and at the womens shelter the girls prayed for Becky and Casandra. God has crossed our paths with two amazing men Emmanual and Albert. Both these men have been through the Salvation Army Harbour Light program. At one time both were homeless, now they volunteer the time to join us every 3rd Friday to give back. Please keep these men in your prayers.

Our prayer is that God will continue to bless us with a heart for those in need & that all of us will hear His voice and do His WILL!

We had an excellant outing this Friday. In East Cleveland, were able to give out a lot of

clothes, shoes & handbags. We gave approx. 60 Hygiene packs out at the Women's shelter. We were able to organize at 2100 Lakeside we fed approx 200 men. We passed out 150 Chic Fli A sandwiches along with bologna and cookies. Everyone got fed this night. Emmanual joined us also, we missed Gary and Christine two of our regulars. Hi everyone,

We had a wonderful trip out tonight, we met and prayed with many. Overall we handed out 150 Chic-Fli-A sandwiches over 100 bologna sandwiches. Two large bags of cookies and 80 Hygiene packs. The Lord is opening doors for Prayer... Praise God......

We want to thank Mike and Sarah along with Brenda for taking the time to prepare the bologna sandwiches. You guys have been such a blessing. We also want to thank all who donated items for the hygiene packs.

Next month we venture out in Cleveland on Aug 20. Akron date still pending.

Greetings Everyone,

We were blessing this past Friday to have Pastor Jon and Daryl from the Akron Salvation Army joining us in venturing out in Cleveland. Pastor Jon has in the past worked at the 2100 Lakeside shelter, he has many memories from back in the 90's. Jon and Daryl continued to bless us by driving up a 15 passenger Salvation Army bus so we could all drive together. Yes we had A/C.
Our first stop was in East Cleveland there we handed out most of the hygiene packs, half of the

Chic Fli A sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly and pre-package snacks with a juice drink. We also had time to minister and pray with individual's. Many were blessed with food and bibles and prayer.

From there we loaded up the remaining food in our own cambro (donated by Kings Kitchen), we stopped at a Dollar Store to purchase water to give out. We then proceeded to 17th/Payne which is a temporary Womens shelter. We had a chance to feed them and give out the remaining hygiene packs. They were very happy to recieve those.

From there we drove through public square looking for anyone who was in need. Bad thing was there was no place to park. We then drove to 2100 Lakeside, once there we handed out over 50 Chic fli A sandwiches, remaining food in the cambro, and some bibles. God opened doors for us to pray with these men. We want to again thank Jon & Daryl for joining us, Chic Fli A for donating 100 sandwiches, Mike and Sarah for the P/J's sandwiches, Tom and Diane for the hygiene packs, Tom and Sharon for the pre-package snacks and juice drink, Dennis and Shelly for the misc hand bags and finally to all others who have donated items. We want to thank Jackie and Nate for joining us tonight we were short handed and they jump in to fill the need.

We will be joining Pastor Jon soon to venture out in the woods in Akron, please keep us in your prayers. Items for next month, hygience items, batteries, flashlights, old hand held radios, bug spray.

The Cold weather is not that far off, please keep in mind old jackets, boots, blankets, hats, gloves... etc we would like to start collecting such items now.

Our transportation was a 15 passenger bus. This is just under the Rt. 8 Bridge.

This is under the Rt. 8 Bridge in Akron. Kurt, Gary, Ivan and Justin. We were looking for anybody down in this area. The 4 men we did find were to the Right of this picture about a 1/4 mile or so.

Hi Everyone,

We joined up with the Akron Salvation Army this Friday, boy did we discover the difference between Urban Homelessness and Rural homlessness. We were all blessed to have this opportunity to tag along with Pastor Jon Soza & his group as they ventured out into the streets, woods, under bridges and to the Haven of Rest (which is a shelter). We met two men Jerry and Mike who came up out of the woods we gave them 2-very nice sleeping bags, and stocked them up with some hot Chick-Fli-A, cookies, chips & couple of bibles. We had a chance to minister and pray with them. Keep Mike and Jerry in your prayers. Our next area was under the Rt. 8 bridge. There we had to hike down small hills, walk the railroad tracks and search the woods. About 1/4 mile or so east we located 4 men who were living in tents. Clyde, Destin, Jeff, forgot the other mans name. When we spotted them Clyde was hunched over the railroad tracks, yes a train was coming fast he missed getting hit by about 2-3 seconds. His friends pulled him to safety. We all yelled as loud as we could. All 4 men were pretty well intoxicated. As before we stocked them up pretty well. We also ministered to them and prayed. Keep these 4 men in your prayers. We then went back to a stop to visit 2-men who weren't there earlier. We did find them, Kevin, ex-Army Ranger 2-tours in Desert Storm and his brother Mike. We gave Mike the last sleeping bag we stocked them both up well. Kevin and Mike really blessed me, very humble men. You may have seen Kevin in the Akron area holding up a sign that says "Will Work for Food". Keep Kevin and Mike in your daily prayers. Finally we went to the Haven of Rest, we handed out all the remaining food, hygiene packs, and many many polo shirts. (Thanks to Jeremiah). We thank everyone who has blessed this ministry with food, hygience items, clothes etc. Please keep praying and supporting this. THE NEED IS GREAT!!!!! Hi everyone,

Tonight as it sun went down it got very cold and windy. We served many tonight at 3 stops. The Salvation Army Canteen truck changed it's policy by not going to 2100 Lakeside or the Womens Shelter. After the East Cleveland stop, they gave us the remaining food, some bowls & spoons we then drove to the Womens Shelter and 2100 Lakeside & served the remaining food from the sidewalks. We handed out 75 Hygiene packs, 50 Chick Fli A sandwiches, lost count on the bibles at least 25 min. We also had donated sandwiches. We had over 50 peanut butter & jelly sandwiches from Mike & Sarah, Tammy's friend Brenda made over 40 bologna sandwiches and Tammy herself made 40 peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. We had 30 or more small bags of chips and a couple hundred little goodie snacks. Thanks to all who made and supplied items it was a blessing. Our next time out is May 21st. Please keep bringing items for the hygiene packs drop them off in the Box in the Lobby.

Next month we will still need sandwiches, goodies & hygiene packs, we have 4 weeks to go.

Hi everyone,

We had 3-stops tonight, East Cleveland, women's shelter & the 2100 men's shelter. We ran out of food, hygiene packs, goodies & bibles. Chick-fli-A donated 50 chicken sandwiches (which didn't last to long). At the East Cleveland stop there were somewhere between 15-20 young & old that were hungry. At the women's shelter there were about 10 or so, we handed out all the bibles there along with some blankets. At the 2100 men's shelter is where we ran out of all the, bread, Chick-fli-A, goodies & hygiene packs. We estimate that 100 + were fed & 30-50 didn't get anything. We need help from anyone who can donate items such as socks, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush's, deodorant, zip lock sandwich baggies & boxed goodies. Now that the warmer weather is here more and more homeless show up for a food, hygiene items. THE NEED IS GREAT!

All together we handed out 6- bibles, 2-blankets, 100 hygiene packs, 50 Chick-fli-A sandwiches

32-bologna and cheese sandwiches, 20 store boxed goodies (approx 200 individual treats).

Hi everyone! Friday February 19th, 10 ROL'ers volunteered to venture out on the canteen truck, it was a great time of fellowship. All together we served approx. 65 people. We also handed out 25 personal hygiene packs (which were not enough), we prepared over 70 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, 70 brownies, which didn't last to long. We also gave out 3-fleece blankets, 24 pairs of socks, a bible and some knit hats. Next month we are scheduled for Friday March 19, 2010.

We need to have at least 25 or more personal hygiene packs each month, that is our prayer.

Anyone who wants to contribute items is welcome. Items in need are; socks, bar of soap, wash cloth, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant etc.

Welcome to our new ROL blog for the Salvation Army Canteen Ministry.

On January 15th 2010, our team went on their first food canteen trip. We fed approx. 30 + at 2 stops in East Cleveland. On this first trip we found that ,there is additional need for extra food
& cleaning supplies for the canteen truck. We also handed out 8 care packages. One lady was very happy because the care package had of all things... toothpaste! Praise God! Anyone who wants to prepare care packages (socks gloves, toothpaste, personal hygiene products etc) or cookies, brownies etc. would be appreciated. Currently, we are schedule for every third Friday of each month in 2010. Our next scheduled date is February 19th, 2010. Please keep this ministry
